Psychological services for children, teens, and families

Parent coaching for toddlers and young children

When working with families of toddlers and young children, I primarily work with parents.

Teaching parents evidence-based strategies to manage and change behavior is most impactful if we want to see positive growth in young children.

Parent coaching is a great match for:

-Children with ADHD

-Children with disruptive behaviors

-Children with anxiety

-Children with toileting problems

-Children coping with stress and life transitions

Individual therapy for older children and teens

Growing into the teen years represents excitement and adventure. It can also be tumultuous for families.

When working with older children and teens, I value providing them a safe, private space to learn new coping skills. And I involve parents so that they can support and encourage practice of these skills outside of sessions. I also offer parent coaching sessions focused on building parent-teen communication skills.

I work with older children and teens navigating:

-Anxiety, including social anxiety, OCD, and panic attacks

-PTSD

-ADHD

-Stressful challenges and transitions

Specialization

I also have specific training and experience supporting:

-LGBTQ+ youth

-Youth with complex medical conditions, such as IBD, diabetes, cancer, and congenital heart disease

-Youth with needle phobia or significant medical fears

-Youth with insomnia or sleep disorders

-Youth with chronic pain

I offer diagnostic evaluations for:

-Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, ADHD.

I do not offer services for youth with significant conduct challenges or youth with eating disorders.

Approach

I’m a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Washington. I provide evidence-based therapy to youth & families with practice rooted in clinical science. My orientation is cognitive-behavioral, drawing from dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness based stress reduction. I’m dedicated to culturally competent and compassionate care that affirms the whole person.

I enjoy collaborating with young people and their parents in therapy, and I believe that therapy is most impactful when psychologists and clients work together as partners. My goal is to make sure that the families I work with feel heard and validated, develop skills that can help them navigate stressful situations, and feel empowered to set and achieve ambitious goals. Although therapy involves hard work, I also think therapy can and should be fun!

Evidence-based practice

Evidence-based practice means that there is research showing that specific treatment plans and skills used in therapy have helped other children, adolescents, and families coping with specific problems.
